  • 1. Black Canyon
Black Canyon, Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park, Colorado

This is one of the less popular parks, but worth the time to visit.
Saw some turkey voltures from pretty up close.

The park visit will take half a day to a day.

  • 2. San Juan Skyway
San Juan Skyway, Colorado, United States

The San Juan Skyway is a must do!
The views we saw driving along the road were amazing.
We left from Black Canyon and took the road al the way to Mesa Verde.
We started out in Snowy landscapes and passed along the red mountains and green plains. Really amazing.

We also visited on of those romantic American villages you see in movies and soaps and even saw a coyote along the side of the road.

  • 3. Mesa Verde National Park
    Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado

Very beautifull park. The Mesa's are really worth your while to visit.
The Balcony house is nice, but in comparison the Palace is much larger and in better condition and more accessible.
The rest of the park is also nice, relaxing and beautifull to visit.

The park is a days visit

  • 4. Lake Powell
    Lake Powell, Utah, United States

Is accessible with the National Park pass.
It is more for a day on the beach than to visit for the sights.

  • 5. Arches National Park
    Arches National Park, Utah

Very stunning arches. The most special one was Delicate Arch.
Take the hiking to Delicate Arch and enjoy a minute of rest a long side the Arch.
The Arch is much more impressive on the hike, than from the view point.

The park is a days visit

  • 6. Antelope Canyon
    Antelope Canyon, Page, Arizona

Visit the upper canyon between 11 am and 1 pm.
The lighting is really breath taking.

    This is a must see!

  • 7. Horseshoe Bend
    Horseshoe Bend, Page, Arizona

Nice to stop to have a look.
It is a 20 minute walk (to the Horseshoe bend and back).
Take some water long because in the sand it gets really hot.

  • 8. Monument Valley
    Monument Valley, Utah

I was a bit disappointed in this park.
It was not as beautifull as i expected it to be.
The visite lasted like only 2 - 3 hours.
And during the visit there are no facilities whatsoever.

  • 9. Grand Canyon National Park
    Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Arrived here, unfortunatly, at Memorial day weekend.
All was booked (except of one cabine which we took).
We wanted to stay 2 days, but this was not possible (because of fully booked hotels).

So we decided not the do the indian trail with the mules and do the trail upon the canyon.
This was a mistake as the Indian trail takes about 6 hours and there is than plenty of time left to do the walk upon the Canyon (this took like 3-4 hours).
The walk upon the canyon can be done as you whish, as there are busses at each viewpoint.

  • 10. Bryce Canyon
Bryce Canyon, Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

This is one of my favorites.
From upon the Canyon the Bryce Canyon is nice, but one you start hiking down ... no words to describe the beauthiful sights we had.
This is really a must see and the hike down is a must do.
Do the entire hike (not only the first 15 minutes as most Americans do) it will be rewarding!

The park is a days visit

  • 11. Zion National Park
    Zion National Park, Utah

Nice park, but somewhat less breathtaking than Bryce Canyon or Arches.
We did some relaxing hikes here and enjoyed the views.

Do not take the hikes that merge with the Horse hikes ... because it was really unnice the way the road it polluded by horse droppings!!

The park is half a day visit.

  • 12. Las Vegas
    Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas speaks for itself i suppose.

It is a bit like Disney or Warner Bross Movie World.
We really liked walking around the casino's.
Did not do any gamblin though.

Nice to visit, and recommendable as resting place.
We stopped here after we visited the above mentionned park (a the end of our 1st week)
We stayed at the Golden Nugget and would do this again if we would return to Las Vegas.

The show 'O' from Cirque de Soleil in the Bellagio is a must see!!! Really no words to describe. I had never seen a show of Cirque de Soleil, but i am fan all the way!!

Also the Buffet at Bellagio is really good and a lot of choice.

  • 13. Death Valley Junction
Death Valley Junction, Death Valley National Park

This is one of the less beauthifull parks.
It was all dry salt. Which was so dirty it was black and otherwise gave the impression of white water.

The sanddunes where nice though. But i had expected more of this park.

  • 14. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, California

Did not really know what the expect, but i was pleasently surprised.
It is a very beauthifull park.
It was still mainly covered in snow, but still very nice to visit.

The park ranger told us there was a good change to see bears, as they had just ended there wintersleep and than come down to eat on the meadows.

We saw 3 bears, one during a hike in the woods, we were checking out the sequoia trees, when we saw a brown colored bear on the otherside of the river.

The second bear we saw when we were returning to the car from that same hike, on the other side of the meadow the bear was liking the branches of a tree. This was a black colored bear.

When we were leaving the park, there was a meadow a long the side of the road and even there in the middle of the meadow there was a bear eating.

The Sequoia trees are also worth while to check out. There is even this very old sequoia trees that was made into a little cabine and a man lived there for many years. That was surprising to see.

It is also one of my favorite park, so a must see!
The park is a days visit.

  • 15. Yosemite National Park
    Yosemite National Park, California

We were very lucky, it had snowed even the week before we arrived.
The snow was melting fast, creating amazing waterfalls.

The park was really beauthifull, a must see.
We did a hike to the Bridal vail, and Vernan falls and some other smaller hikes.
We really enjoyed visiting the park.

The park is a one day visit.

  • 16. San Francisco
    San Francisco, California

We ended our second week of roadtrip USA in the city of San Francisco.
We stayed one day and visited:
    * Fishermen's wharph with the sea lions
    * Golden Gate bridge (which we only saw partially because of fog)
    * Painted ladies
    * cable cars => nice to take when visiting the touristic places

It was a nice visited and good to recharge after visiting so many national parks

  • 17. Cost Road from San Francisco via Los Angeles to San Diego

We took the cost side road from San Francisco via Los Angeles to San Diego.
It is a 2 days drive, but with very nice stops, very beauthifull view points.

    I recommend it!
We stayed in the Shore cost Best Western Inn at Pismo and asked for a cost view room where we watched the sun down. It was very romantic.

  • 18. San Diego Zoo
San Diego Zoo, San Diego, California

    Large Zoo, many Animals.
Just a shame that the exibits are not really nice.

Be sure to visit the panda: AMAZING!

We took a combi-ticket giving access to San Diego Zoo, Safari Park and Seaworld

  • 19. SeaWorld San Diego
SeaWorld San Diego, San Diego, California

    We really loved the park.
The Orka shows are really a must see!

We also did a Dolphin interaction (20 minutes feeding, training, petting a dolphin).
    I can only say "AMAZING"!!!!

The sea lion show on saturday is really funny.

  • 20. San Diego Zoo Safari Park
San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Escondido, California

Not what i expected at all.
It is more a park for locals if you ask me.
You can hardly see the animals and are you walking around in a park with ugly fenches and horrible food.
