Some of the nicer things about Albany, NY
Lark Street's second sister. Pearl Street is a higher income street, and the city leaders have done a lot to upgrade its image. It has Jillian's, for kids of all ages; Savannah's for a more sophisticated crowd; Broadway Joe's for a more mixed crowd varying from Wall Street types, to local sports and concert fans, to local pols and government workers depending on the time of the day (it's across the street from Albany's few remaining financial institutions and it inside the area's largest Sports Arena and Performance Hall); Pagliacci's -- a local's hangout with decent Italian food and a rooftop (in summer) bar); and McGeary's -- Albany's answer to old time Irish puc/College hangout; and two dozen other high and low end pubs and eateries. Sapienza's is (arguably) the city's best pizzeria. (Tell Nino & Josephine we said so!). Also, the Capital Rep and some historic sites, such as the Tiffany-windowed First Dutch Reformed Church, Steuben Place, and the Palace Theater (1931), designed by John Eberson. And 677 Prime and the Albany Pump Station aren't far away from the north end.
