It does not have to take a ton of money or big ideas, to get away from it all, and we have been doing just that for the past few years and look forward to many more "overnight and long weekend escapes" in the future! I tell my friends when they ask about our trips, "try planning your weekends getaways around things you like to do; shopping, sightseeing, recreational activities, etc., the list of things are endless, just be creative.
What a great place for an overnight escape. There is Hershey Park, Car Museum, Hershey Chocolate factory, and in September, there is the outdoor RV show which can be a lot of fun.

Nice hotel, great location to the parks, car museum, dining, shopping, etc. This is a hard hotel to get a room. I think its most popular for families, so book early.
3. Atlantic City
With Las Vegas who needs Atlantic City, right? Not so fast. It all depends on what your plans are. My hubby and I are not gamblers, and Las Vegas is a great place to visit, but when you need to escape the madness, and want someplace close by, AC can fit the bill. With the many new additions added such as shopping mall, outlet center, and beach bars, you can have a great time without trying to hit the jackpot. Anytime of year is good, but spring and summer are best for enjoying the beach bars. Sign up to receive the email newsletters from the resort hotels, wait for a great offer to hit your inbox and off you go. The best rates are always Sun-Thursday, but you have to book quickly. We have gotten great email offers for rooms, meals and sometimes a show or two.

My husband and I spent one night here last weekend to attend a RV show, and we actually had more fun at the hotel than we did the show. The show was okay, but the hotel was even better with the nice amenities to end our day. For $108.00 it offered a clean, comfortable room with great king size bed. Indoor pool with hot tub, cozy lounge with bar and fireplace, free internet access, and a nice little cafe for a great morning breakfast. For dinner there was a cozy little diner about 2 minutes away, that served us well and at an affordable price. It was a nice break away from the city, and it was just what we needed.

Nice resort hotel, within walking distance to downtown disney, what more could you ask for. All the amenities one could need or want; 3 pools, pool bar, sports bar, restaurant, cafe, exercise room, modern rooms, disney store for tickets, etc. For a weekend escape, it was perfect and with downtown disney within a 10 minute walk, it turned out great! The hotel website offers the best rates, especially if you have AAA, or are a AARP member. Some of the rates include breakfast too, which is a plus when you are a on a budget. We love this hotel, and can't wait to return.
You either love it or hate it, but Baltimore MD can be fun for a night or two. Our last visit here was to see the Great Blacks in Wax Museum, which turned out to be very inspirational, so we returned a few months later with our family and it was even better the 2nd time. After the museum we enjoyed a nice lunch at J Pauls on the waterfront, next stop was the Aquarium and we ended our day sitting by the water, eating ice-cream and people watching. The best part, the weather was beautiful for a mid-October day. Great family outing.
The history here is amazing and everyone should see it at least once.
The lunch we had at this restaurant was excellent and affordable.
I was born and raised here, so of course I have to add it to my list. Philly has gotten a bad rap over the past few years, but there is a lot more to this city than many will give it credit for. The list is endless but you spend a weekend here and not get bored. It may not be NYC, but you can still have fun! South street for people watching, unique shopping, dining and anything in between. Center City for its abundance of stores and places to eat, and of course the avenue of the arts for the theater and music. If the city is not your thing, we are only a short drive away from Lancaster and Bucks County for cruising the countryside of Philly. Check us out, you will not be disappointed.

16. New York City
What can I say about NYC?? Plenty, but to keep it short and sweet, just go! you will not regret it. This city/island overflows with possibilites for a day, night, or long weekend. The abundance of things to do can be overwhelming, but just walking around can fill your days and nights, without breaking the bank. The best part, you don't need a car at all. With the great transportation options this city offers, no place is out of reach. We love NY!

Great hotel, within minutes from NYC, and the NJ transit stop is right outside your door for a quick ride into the city, can't beat it!
The 1st thing that came to mind when we visited this place was the Spike Lee movie, "Malcolm X", because part of the movie was filmed here, and it was a hangout spot for Macolm X in his heyday before he went to prison.
Great little neighbor that is packed with unique shopping and dining. Can be a bit hard on the wallet, but its still worth a visit.
Harlem has come a long way since the 80's, and its has come back strong and healthy. There is still a lot to be done here, but businesses are booming, and housing prices are through the roof, but the history here is great and its definitely worth a visit when visiting the Big Apple!
What can you say about the Apollo!! Many of the best there is in the music industry got their start here, and went on to become very successful.
23. Ocean City
This is a great place to get away from it all, and a short drive away from Philly, NJ and Delaware. Our last visit here was in 2006, but we definitely plan to return this summer. My husband loved it because he could parasail bayside, and I loved the nice clean beaches, and great restaurants.
great food, service and right on the beach and boardwalk.
