  • 2. Fairmont Singapore
    Fairmont Singapore, Singapore, Singapore
    Show Prices
    Avg price: $319

Very good location and nice service. Near city hall train station, and in walking distance most city center attractions and has indoor connection to biggest and best shopping. Both hop-on-hop of bus services are near by.
Promotion rates are often available once you are singed up as member (free) and with boarding pass from Singapore Airlines. North wing has corner rooms that have harbor and city view as well as huge size (like suite). Hotel does not charge extra for the view. South wing rooms have better design, but much smaller size.

  • 3. SIA Hop-On Bus
    http://siahopon.asiaone.com.sg/

Looks like most cost effective way to travel around the town especially if you have time to spare. The SIA Hop-on is a convenient tourist bus service that offers unlimited air-conditioned rides around the city and to the Sentosa Island Resort. The bus plies the shopping, dining, cultural, and entertainment areas and stops at major shopping malls, hotels and landmarks. It also covers ethnic districts in Chinatown, Little India and Arab Street.
    COST: (Day pass)
FREE OF CHARGE Singapore Stopover Holiday (SSH) visitors travel free on the SIA Hop-on Bus.
Please present your SSH Identification Card for boarding.

  • 4. Singapore Zoo & Night Safari
    Singapore Zoo, Singapore, Singapore

The zoo has a very nice un-fenced setting where all animals are separated from you only by natural dividers and cleaver planning. Primate collection is especially nice. Get on the tram take a roundtrip get off near the white bears and wonder around as you please. To see most feedings be there between 11AM and 3PM.
Night Safary is right there, but holds deferent anymals on deferent terretory and you need seperate tickets. There are free 'fire show' (before the ticketed area, where they serve food), we found it pretty primitive but there are a lot of watchers. Similar situation with the night animal show that is very basic, but fun for school aged kids. If you are not into the shows, use the show times to get on empty tram. Do get on the tram as the tram takes you to the animals that are not accessible otherwise.
DISCOUNT: If you have Singapore Air boarding pass that is not more then 7 days old you will get $5-$10 off.
WHEN: Plan safari on a school night at about 9PM. Zoo is best between 11 and 15.
FOOD: Only nice food is in the Night safari section (10m away) and worth the extra steps.
GET THERE: Cab from city center is about S$17, while trains are nice we found the buses not present or too comfortable. There is a hop-on-hop-off bus that can take you there (not the Hippo) it's about S$10 and free with Singapore AIr Boarding Pass

  • 5. Sentosa Island
    Sentosa Island, Singapore

Nice park, but not Disney and nothing very sepacial. Could be a destination only for children. Don't rush to buy combo tickets that include outdoor activities or the City View as if it's rain (and it rains dally and no-one knows when) you will not be able to use it or get a refund. The 3D and 4D are fun, the City View is also nice. But if you are from developed country and over 15 you might not find it worth you while abroad since you probably seen it all before.

GETTING THERE and ROUND: We took a clear cable car to and from the island and enjoyed the views. But there are other and perhaps bit cheaper way to get there. The are buses and taxi on the island.

  • 6. Singapore Little India
    http://wikitravel.org/en/Singapore/Little_India

Nice India-like area in city center. Massage and hena artworks are very cheap. Known for Mustafa Center - electronic and appliance center offers something nice only compare to other SEA countries and not interested for US residence. Good food on the streets, especially in the North Indian. Beautiful Hindu temples. Area has it's own vibrant ambiance. Worth up to half a day trip.

  • 7. Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
    http://www.visitsingapore.com/publish/stbportal/en/home/what_to_see/pl...

Stunning architecture wise. Do visit the 3rd floor relic room and the roof garden. Plan to spend up to 1 hour.

  • 8. Singapore China Town
    http://wikitravel.org/en/Singapore/Chinatown

Streets of vendors in between gorgeous Temples. Nice shopping, great prices for souvenirs, nice Chinese medicine shop some with doctors. It's China town - it's cheap, loud and red with gold. It get nice redecoration for the Chinese New Year. Food is very nice and worth the try, shops are generally clean. Nice feng shui shops. Can be a nice 1/2 day trip, or full day if you want to visit all the temples and take is slowly.
