1. TradeWinds Island Grand Beach Resort

Ave price:
$235

3rd year we've stayed here. Very convenient for us. Had gulf front 2 bedroom suite that was perfect with 2 teenagers and daugher / grand daughter. Right on beach. Cabanas and beach toys (kayaks, etc.) included in resort fee. Safe - teenagers could mill around on their own without worry. Multiple pools / hot tubs / activities. Covered pool (very nice for daily rain storms). Onsite Pizza Hut, ice cream parlor, restaurants (although only restaurant we use is Flying Bridge next to beach / pool). Go to Publix down street and pick up alcohol and fabulous cuban sandwiches to save money. Used kids program for first time. $30 for 4 hours including lunch, beach, movie, craft, beach slide, etc.. Provided great break for mom / mimi and 4 year old.
I see mixed reviews of this hotel. It is nice, but not fancy. Very typical Florida beach hotel to me - functional, clean, immediate beach access. Not sure what others are looking for. This is a resort where you can walk barefooted from room to beach and back, not wear makeup, lay in a hammock and wear the same tshirt and shorts for days.... |

| Great beach restaurant with inside / outside seating. Maybe 10 minutes from St. Pete beach and just a couple of minutes from John's Pass. Fun place to take teenagers. Reasonably priced food - the best we had during our stay. Grouper sandwich, fish tacos, etc.. |

3. Crabby Bill's - Saint Pete Beach
| OK food. A place the kids love to go. Right on beach. Picnic table seating. Standard mostly fried seafood. Easy walk from Tradewinds resort, Sirata, Don Cesar via sidewalk or beach. |

4. John's Pass Village and Boardwalk
| Nice evening activity. Several restaurants / ice cream parlors. Working boardwalk has live music, fishing boats returning, pelican / bird feeding, dolphins frolicking in bay. Great place to walk around and sight see. |

5. Florida Holocaust Museum
| Educational diversion for adults on beach trip. Wouldn't take small children. Touching historical displays and audio tour. Just 15 minutes from St. Pete beach. Will do Salvador Dali next time. |

| Great deli in downtown St. Petersburg. Close to Holocaust and Salvador Dali museum. Nice diversion from seafood restaurants. On the way from St. Pete beach to PIE airport. |
