While we stayed in Oistins (Christchurch) I would imagine it's impossible to find a BAD beach in Barbados! The sand is soft and white, the sea warm and 'lively' if you like windsurfing or sailing, or even just splashing about.

In fact the whole of the Caribbean is fantastic for beach holidays, but I do have a particular soft spot for Barbados.
Of course, no visit to Rio is complete without going to its two famous beaches, Copacabana and Ipanema.

Copacabana Beach is wide and long and is ideal for long walks along the shoreline in the soft white sand. Ipenema Beach is the place where all the 'beautiful people' hang out, simply to be seen. Because of this, the shops and bars along the front tend to be quite pricey, but nonetheless it's an experience not to be missed, just to be able to put another pin in your world map.
3. Zihuatanejo
The fishing resort that was made famous in "The Shawshank Redemption" has everything you could wish for - a beautiful beach, rugged shoreline, warm clear water and unusual little shops, bars and restaurants. It's a perfect place for scuba diving and snorkelling.
We stayed at Diani Sea Lodge and it's a lovely private beach which has a lot of trees to provide welcome shade. Also, because it's private, visitors are not pestered by hawkers. The sea is beautiful and warm and what starts as an intended 5-minute dip usually ends up lasting half an hour or more, just because it's so nice!
Anyone who has ever seen the British TV comedy-drama "Doc Martin" (starring Martin Clunes) will want to go and visit Cornwall!

The northern coast is on the Atlantic Ocean and is the most perfect place for surfing. The beaches are golden and beautifully clean and are probably among the best in Britain. All along the Cornish coast is rugged cliffs, bays and tiny hidden coves and the pretty, quaint villages look like something from a bygone era. A gorgeous place to stay and the best of British.
6. Langkawi
Langkawi is also another lovely beach resort. The sea is warm and inviting (but you have to keep a lookout for sharks!) and the sand is soft, but does tend to get REALLY hot in the equatorial heat. A gorgeous place to stay.
St Kilda beach near Melbourne is just a short bus-ride away from the main town centre and is a lovely respite from the bustle of Melbourne's main street. A lovely white sandy beach and warm water will tempt you as well as the many interesting bars and restaurants set back from the beach. Look out for the seafood restaurants - the fruits de mer is a must!
