One of the best Zoos!
2. Tampa Electric Manatee Viewing Center
Many people miss this attraction.
Tidal walkway, educational center, and yes - you can see manatees!
Great place to visit for a morning or afternoon. LOTS of little shops to buy hand-made items, souvenirs, clothing, ice cream, etc. Walk on the upper boardwalk and view the coast and boats... cross the street and walk on the beach.
This place is free - donations are welcome (i strongly recommend). These are all kinds of birds that are either permanently or temporally injured. Pelicans, gulls, crows, storks, owls - you name it. This place is quite small - but it lets you see how birds are injured, how to prevent, what to do if you see injured birds and how people with a heart take care of them. Also, walk through the back and visit the beach!
Honestly, I've never visted Historic Ybor during the daytime... so I can't vouch for that.
At night, this place is basically a strip of clubs and bars. My favorites include The Castle (two story gothic/indie/80's club) and the Boneyard (bar with pool tables, fun decor and a jukebox)
6. Lake Seminole Park
Seminole is easily lost between people going from Clearwater to St.Pete. Seminole offers the beautiful Lake Seminole Park. Quiet, huge and tons of nature to see. Beautiful plants, unique birds, trails, etc
Sarasota is clean, beautiful and full of great local artists and shops. Take a walk on and around Main Street in Downtown. Walk around the Marina and see dolphins and boats.
8. Siesta Key
Beautiful Beach.
One of the best aquariums I've been to. on my last visit, they updated the Aquarium and now have a whole outside area with turtles, birds and plants. Get real close to a spoonbill!
13. Caladesi Island State Park
Authentic French restaurant in Downtown Sarasota. My favorite! You must try their crepes!
