Forget the snow... there is not a more "Christmasy" place in the USA than Christmas in Orlando, Florida and Walt Disney World!
They call themselves Orlando's hotel headquarters for Christmas... and it's no wonder! A walk around their 4.5-acre indoor atrium is like walking through a Christmas wonderland. And don't forget the amazing ICE! attraction, it is hand carved from two million pounds of ice! Yes, ice in Orlando!
Main Street USA becomes Christmas Street USA! You'll love the amazing decorations. Don't miss Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party... and the afternoon Christmas parade.
Our family has gone to see Epcot's Candlelight Processional every year for the past eight years. This is an amazing Disney tradition than began at Disneyland. Imagine a 50 piece orchestra, a 500 voice choir, trumpeteers and a spectacle that only Disney can produce. Don't miss it!
An opportunity seized by Disney turns Orlando tradition! In the mid-1990s, billionaire William Jennings Osbourne was forced by the state Supreme Court to take down his 3 million Christmas lights from his Arkansas home. Disney offered a spot to display them, and have added a few million more over the years. Last year, the lights were synchronized to music. Quite a spectacle!
New simulator attraction this year themed to The Polar Express... with live polar bears!
Home to The Grinch... and those oh-so-happy Whos.
If you can't make the real Macy's parade in NYC, choose the next best thing... the Macy's Christmas Parade at Universal Studios!
This is one of those "only in Orlando" type of things. A local hotel brings in two million pounds of ice and chills it to 9 degrees. A team of 40 artists from Harbin China spend a month hand carving it into a walk-through attraction, complete with Candy Land houses, full-size walk-through trains, 3-story tall ice slides, a winter wonderland, and even a walk-through igloo! We don't own winter coats, but it doesn't matter because they will loan you one! Who needs snow, when you have ICE!? Oh, and they give you cocoa when you get out!
This is our new Christmas tradition in Orlando. We hunt to find 20 gnomes hidden through the Gaylord Palms atrium. It's not as easy as it sounds!
If you like to splurge on an upscale present, hit Tiffany's or Neiman Marcus.
I found this website last year and it helps with the details! Enjoy!
