3.5 of 5 stars based on 1 vote

a list of the best private home rentals in and around Merida

  • Category: Best of
  • Appeals to: Business travelers, Honeymooners, Large groups
  • 1. Casa del Pocito
    http://www.casapocitoyucatan.com/

A stunning 2 bedroom house designed the architect Salvador Reyes Rios and decorated by the current owners who are both designers living in California and Merida.

  • 2. Urbano Rentals
    http://www.bestofyucatan.com/

An small selection of colonial homes in Merida and a couple of private haciendas neaby. If you are looking for a luxury rental you will probably find it here. There are several houses designed by Salvador Reyes Rio & Josephina Larrain and others by John Powell & Josh Ramos.

  • 3. Hacienda Petac
    http://www.haciendapetac.com

The hacienda that has the best service and the best food is Hacienda Petac. It is also designed by Reyes Rios. I've stayed here several times and I'm a huge fan.

  • 4. Hacienda Sac Chich
    http://www.bestofyucatan.com/sacchich.html

This hacienda is near the convent route town of Acanceh. Half of the hacienda was designed by Josephina Larrain and the other half was renovated by her and her husband Salvador after they married.

  • 5. Hacienda Santo Domingo de Yunku
    http://www.haciendayunku.com/

A much cheaper hacienda to rent than the others with a giant pool and a private cenote where you can swim or dive. Hacienda Yunku feels much the same as it must have in the early 19th century. Only the baker honking in the morning will bring you back to this century.

  • 6. Meson Moderna de San Sebastian
    http://casamodernasansebastian.blogspot.com/

One of the few modern houses for rent in Merida's historic center. A large house with 2 bedrooms a zen garden and a beautiful pool.

  • 7. Hacienda San Antonio Millet
    http://www.aktunmillet.com/eng/?sec=villa&id=38

If Agatha Christie had set a novel in the Yucatan she would have surely put her charcters up here.

  • 8. Casa del Panadero
    http://www.meridavacationrentals.com/

I've not seen this house, the twin of casa del pocito, since the new owner bought it. But it seems to be comfortably furnished and certainly has all the conveniences you look for in a vacation rental.

  • 9. Villa Santa Ana
    http://www.tourist-paradise.com/vacation-rental.php?obj_nr=20075

Ideal for a large family. It has 3 bedrooms in the colonial house, a bedroom in the pool house, and a master suite in the garden. It's a great mix of old and new.
