This is our journey thru Rome, Florence than Venice, two grown single-women and their mothers which was not part of the original plan, a bit of comedy, frustration but a great memory all the same. Trip report is under #1, photos #2 and all the rest of the advise I know to share.

  • 4. Albergo Firenze
    Albergo Firenze, Florence

Our hotel was a two-block walk from the Duomo, it's clean a good price considering it's location and with the best waitress in the whole world, there is nothing better than her morning smile to greet you each day with coffee.

  • 5. Ai Mori d'Oriente Hotel
    Ai Mori d'Oriente Hotel, Venice

It has charm, it has elegance, the canal out front of the hotel in the mornings is a vision in itself. The staff are so helpful and the breakfast, you will not forget that anytime soon. I'm still craving their lemonpie.

  • 6. European Destinations-includes air, hotel and trains

You can change this to how many nights you want, we did five nights in each place, once it defaults to a hotel, you will also receive a listing of other hotels, use this list to reseach them here on Trip Advisor, of course the price varies by which hotel you pick, I always checked how far is the hotel from the metro or bus to the sights, I also would check the reviews here by other TA members and it was right on the mark, can't beat there prices and if you do, let me know :)

  • 7. Scavi tour of St. Peter's Tomb

Email them a few months before your trip, there is limited space, if you do not get an appointment for the tour, try showing up at the Scavi office at St. Peter's and ask them if there are no-shows, they may let you take that spot, it's well worth a try and a very moving tour experience.

  • 8. Rome cabs with Stefano
