Fort Desoto is a fantastic state park in St. Petersburg, FL. There is a large dog park and a designated dog beach. The dog park has tons of grass and is reallly well kept. There is fresh water for drinking and areas for rinsing your dog. There are separate sides for large and small dogs. The beach area is lovely as well. Dogs are permitted off leash on the beach. It is not fenced in but bordered by significant foliage that would keep your average dog within bounds. The park also features many trails, picnic areas, and a snack bar. Dogs are welcome in most areas- except the non-doggy beaches.
Lake Park is a county run facility. There is an off-leash dog park at the front of the park, bordering Dale Mabry Highway. It is fairly large with many trees but very little grass. There is freshwater available for drinking. The park is nothing too fancy but attracts a really great group of local dogs and their families. This is my favorite park because there is always such a great group there! The park is 600 acres and features many trails, including a fitness trail. There are several large lakes, picnic areas, and playgrounds. Dogs must be leashed in areas other than the dog park.
Crispers on Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa welcomes well-behaved dogs at the outdoor tables. Someone will need to go in and order the food, which will then be brought out to your table. I have taken my dog here many times and the staff is always very friendly to him.
This is a small dog beach located on Davis Island. There is freshwater available for drinking. This beach area is completely fenced in and dogs are free to run off leash. There is also a non-beach dog park on the island and several dog friendly dining locations.
This is a beautiful state park and one of the best beaches in the area. Very quiet and usually is insulated from most of the tourist traffic. There is a designated dog beach where dogs are welcomed. They must remain on leash in this park. There is a long walk from the parking area to the beach but it is definately worth the hike. Fresh water is not readily available so bring some bottles of water with you. Dogs may also use the walking trails.
6. Tijuana Flats
Tijuana Flats on SR56 in New Tampa welcomes dogs at the outdoor tables. And the food is delicious!
