This list includes some of my favorite extreme activities in Interlaken.
Canyoning is illegal in the United States, and is probably the most fun I have ever had. Your guides will take you into a canyon that has been carved out by a river. You make your way into it at the top, and make your way down to the base. In order to get down, you must jump off of cliffs, waterfalls, etc into a rushing river below. It is a fantastic adrenaline rush, and is worth every penny!
Of course everyone knows what bungee jumping is, but here you get some of the best views you will ever see, before jumping into one of the Interlaken lakes.
Again, this is a familiar activity. But the scenery here is unbeatable. Plus, you will get into some pretty good rapids throughout the rivers. Don't worry, beginners can easily do it too. The guides will give you a lesson before you get on the water.
Sounds simple, I know, but how many people can say they hiked through the swiss alps? The views are breath taking. Ask someone at your hotel where they recommend, and they'll point you in the right direction. Once you reach the top, you will see Interlaken below with the beautiful blue lakes. It is absolutely breathtaking!
This hostel took my trip to Interlaken to another level. It is not the place for small children, or older travellers, but it is perfect for anyone from 18 to 35! If you like to meet new people, and want to make the most of your time in Switzerland, do not stay anywhere else! The prices are extremely reasonable (we paid just $15.00/night for a shared room without a bathroom), but they also have private rooms for anyone who doesn't feel comfortable sharing with strangers. The staff is welcoming and friendly, they will arrange all of your activities for you. With each activity, you receive a free local beer after you finish! Free beer is always a plus! And the nightlife at this hostel is fantastic as well. When I was there people from the other hostels around also came to the bar at Balmer's. It was fun, easy to meet people, hear their travel stories, and get advice on our future travels. If you like to have fun, and meet new people you will not regret staying here. Don't miss it!
