Missouri mom with 2 semi grown daughters (17 and 24) and 3 year old grand daughter spend 5 fabulous days on St. Pete beach. Love a vacation where you feel comfortable with flipflops and no makeup!

Location, location, location. The Tradewinds might cost more - but we are spoiled with the convenience. Right on the beach. 4 pools (1 covered for rainy days). Lots of activities - water aerobics, dive in movies, paddle boats, etc.. The Flying Bridge is great for lunch and drinks. Pay extra for a balcony - you'll spend lots of time people watching. This is our 2nd time at the Tradewinds and not our last.
Great casual restaurant. Knew we were in the right place when we saw all of the locals. Best grouper sandwich ever. Heard the sangria is excellent. Just a few minutes up the road from the Tradewinds.
Great casual beach restaurant. Bucket of fish was good. Bar on roof had live band and looked like a LOT of fun!
Nice 30 minute evening drive up the coast from St. Petersburg. Slow, 2 lane road through Treasure Island, Madera Beach, Indian Rocks. Lots of beautiful homes. Roll the windows down and take your time. Stop for ice cream. Be at Pier 60 at sunset - lots of street performers and a beautiful sunset on the beach. Would have eaten at Frenchy's if we'd had time. There are two in the area.
Nice aquarium - but I don't know that we wouldn't do the Clearwater aquarium next time. Probably wouldn't drive into Tampa specifically to do it again, but it's a good activity if you are already there for Ybor City or shopping.
6. Allegiant Air
First time flying Allegiant. Great experience. Love the non-stop flight. Love the small regional airports. Flying into PIE instead of TPA saves tons of time and is so much easier. Aircraft is newer and more comfortable than regular commercial. No free soda or coffee - but who cares, it's only $2 and the flight experience is much better.
7. St. Pete Beach
Great beach for North America. Miles of soft white sand. Great for sand castles. Great for morning and evening walks. Water is fairly clear and was 87 degrees. Lots of skim boarding (new shoreline boarding done on thin wooden surf board). Lots of frisbee and paddle ball. Fun place to be.
