How to have a great time....with the kids even! We head up the coast a couple times a year. Always have from our honeymoon on out. Now the kids are 8 and 11 and we have 2 dogs that go where we go.

| John and Tobi Ross run this business. They do beach horseback rides and mountain rides. My wife and one daughter opted to do the beach ride. My wike isn't real crazy about horses, but these were so gentle, she had fun. |

2. Cottontail Acres Vacation Home
| Vacation Home on the Mendocino Coast with gorgeous ocean views and beach access. Kid and dog friendly to the extreme. Really nice to have a dog door and fenced yard so we didn't have to wonder where the dogs were all the time. The kids were thrilled to stay in the loft, just a few steps from the house but a private place for them to hang out. House had everything we needed and beyond. I'm thinking I'd like to con one of the granparents into taking the kids so I can bring my wife back here alone. I'd love to sit on the deck and watch whales while sipping wine this winter. |

3. Wonderful Food with a terrific View
| Comfortable restaraunt with ocean views and a menu with something for everyone. My wife loved the Duck Pate starter and I went gaga over the cassoulet for my dinner. The kids were made very comfortable by the owner, Tony, with Shirley Temples and Pasta with Cheese. |

4. Point Arena Lighthouse
| Nice museum with lots of local history. You can walk up the stairs and see the old lens and the view there is great. Whales come right up to the land just about. Stornetta Dairy donated land recently and you can walk all over the place. They have free maps in the lighthouse museum so you know where to go. |

| Beautiful to walk around in. Beach was fun for the kids. We talked to a father and son about the abalone diving that goes on here. Was really fascinating. |

| WOW, little jewels sparkle each time the waves wash over them. We spent a couple hours searching for those special colored pieces of glass to take home. Looks like a regular beach from above, but when you get down to it, sea smoothed glass is everywhere! |
