Places to visit in Wallingford

  • Category: Perfect day
  • 1. Project Timescape

Great new visitor attraction just outside Wallingford near the Wittenham Clumps
Step back in time to find out what the landscape was like 1000s of years ago. See a Mammoth's tooth found in the area, handle skeleton's bones and use scientific experiments to learn about the landscape. You can use interactive games to work out how "green" your life is and how your actions today will change the landscape in the future.

  • 2. Wittenham Clumps

The Wittenham Clumps sit on the Northmoor Trust's Estate nr Wallingford. Great for kite flying of sledging in the winter! Fantastic views as far as Oxford on a clear day.

  • 3. Little Wittenham Nature Reserve

Lovely walks through Little Wittenham Wood and along the River Thames to Day's Lock. Waymark posts provide trails through the wood and you can pick up leaflets to help you identify the birds and wildlife on the Nature Reserve. Don't miss the bird hide down by the river with a wonderful panel with beautiful sketches of the birds you might see on the reserve.
