Dining in Santorini

if you're looking for the best gyro in santorini, look no further. i think the states need to go over to this place and learn how to make a gyro. this was the most amazing gyro i've ever had. if you're in fira and are hungry for a quick bite, you have to check this place out!

this place is great for a quick bite before hopping on the bus to fira. it's located right near the bus/taxi square in oia. their moussaka was yummy =)

we went to dinner at a place in oia called skala's. for those looking for good food at a reasonable price, we'd definitely recommend it here. the house red, very inexpensive (7 euro) - very tasty. oh yeah, i forgot to mention... it has an amazing view of the caldera. you might have to get there early though to get a balcony's edge seat...

1800 is not too far from the end of oia, so if you want to catch the sunset and then dine, it's not a problem at all. looking back, i'd have to say this was our favorite food (not favorite dinner, that was ambrosia - below). the food at 1800 was amazing. honestly, i can't remember what the wifey had (i think lamb chop), but i had the rooster. i've never had rooster nor would even consider ordering it, if it weren't for the waitress - i owe her many thanks! this was some of the best tasting meat i've ever had. what made the dinner even better was their wine selection. the waitress picked out a bottle of visanto that was just perfect. if you're okay with shelling out 160 euros for a nice dinner for two with good food, make sure you check out 1800.

we dinned at ambrosia, not to be confused with ambrosia and nectar. it was amazing. i don't think it is possible to find a more romantic dining ambiance in the world than ambrosia. if you know of any, please pass the info on... i must say, the food was great as well. i'd put it a little below 1800 in taste comparison, but not too far below. as expected, the price was comparable to 1800 at about 170 euro. if you're on your honeymoon, this is a "must-eat-at" place!
