Everything you wanted to know about Jello. A fun place fro adults and kids 30 minutes from Rochester. Mapquest it from your hotel. Also they have a carriage museum in the basement. 4.00 to get in 3.50 with AAA card.
Everything you want to know about Kodak. Cost in 2007 was 9.00. Also have the formal garden...not very big
A huge waterfall in down town Rochester. Free. They also have a lazer show at 930pm. There are many restaurants in the area and if you time it right you can have a front row seat to see the lazar show. The visitor center is close by and they offer a short 10 minute film on other places to visit in Rochester. They also sell crafts made by people who live in Rochester. There is another craft co-op across the street, defintely worth a look.
Beautful park with 3 big waterfalls, almost as big as Niagra Falls. It is called the Grand Canyon of the East because of its 600 foot 17 mile long gorge. You can also camp here, stay in cabin, picnic, hike, or swim in a pool. Your National Parks Pass works here or if no pass then 6.00 a car load. About 1 hr from Rochester and defintiely worth a visit. Check the web site to see when the hot air balloons take off from the park.
5. Ontario Beach
Beach on Lake Ontario about a 15 minute drive from Rochester NY. Has an original carousel from 1920 newly renovated, great ice cream try a turtle, and white sand beach.
Try to go here the second week in May for the Lilac festival. I went the last week in May and the lilacs were still blooming, but the rhodedrons had faded and the azalaes were past their peak. It is a huge park where you can walk among the many different colors of lilacs, azaleas, and rhodendrons They also have a huge pansy garden with pansies of every color from purple, to yellow, to orange and yellow to black.
It is about a 10 minute ride from the Quality Inn and it is free. Not sure how much the lilac festival is, check the website I would also advise to have your hotel mapquest the directions to each fo the sites you plan to visit in one day or do it yourself before leaving home as it is so much easier and less frustration to have DIRECTIONS to get you there..
