My husband and I were in Boston last year for a wedding, and took four extra days to enjoy the city, just the two of us. I am originally from the area and we try to go back as often as possible. This is what we did and where we went during our trip.

1. Courtyard Boston Copley Square

This is where we stayed for the first half of our 4 days. LOVED the location. We were so close to Newbury Street, the Prudential Center, and the Copley t-stop. We got a great room with a nice bay window, and the front desk staff was very helpful!
2. Fenway Park

We both highly recommend the tour for anyone in love with Boston sports or just baseball in general. There are some amazing stories surrounding that old ballpark.
3. Newbury Street

Great shopping district! We love just walking up and down the street, window shopping. My favorite bath and body products store, Lush, has a location on Newbury. We also love visiting the original location of Newbury Comics for some really quirky items!
4. Prudential Center

This is basically just a big shopping mall, but it can still be a fun place to go. One night during our trip, I was coming down with a cold and it was rainy, so we just walked over to the Prudential Center from our hotel and waited out the rain. We browsed the shops, wandered around, people watched, had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen, and just enjoyed spending time together. It's probably nothing you wouldn't have at home, but I thought it was worth a mention, especially if you are staying in the Copley area like we were.
5. Museum of Fine Arts

I seem to visit this place every time I'm in Boston and I still don't think I've seen it all. This place is massive and has some really nice collections of all different types of art throughout history. My favorite parts are the Egyptian section, and the series of rooms with very large oil paintings from the Renaissance. I'm a big fan of studying Marie Antoinette and they have a couple pieces of her furniture from Versailles, which I think is really cool. Basically, if you are at all into history or art, you need to visit here!
6. Boston Duck Tours

A must-do for a Boston first-timer! A great way to get an overview of the city's history and geography. I had never done this tour when we came to Boston last August, so I was thrilled to have finally done it. Our tour guide was very funny and full of interesting stories. Riding the "duck" from the road right into the Charles River was so much fun!
7. Boston Public Garden

I love wandering through this public park, especially in the springtime when the tulips are in bloom! The weeping willow trees are magnificent! The swan boats are a nice little novelty too. Definitely bring your camera, this is one of the most picturesque spots in Boston.
8. Union Oyster House

Great if you love seafood. I don't, but my husband does! He raved about the clam chowder. Even if I didn't have much in the way of non-seafood items to pick from on the menu, I still enjoyed the charm of this OLD OLD restaurant. The floor is uneven and the booths are small and cramped, but those imperfections are what make this place awesome!
9. Pizzeria Regina

This pizza is definitely worth a trek out to the North End! Yum, yum, yum is all I have to say about that! Regina's has the hole-in-the-wall charm thing going on and the place is always packed, which reiterates that others agree with my take on the yummy pizza!
10. Tealuxe
Tealuxe, Boston, Massachusetts
Adorable little cafe on Newbury Street, close to the Public Gardens. They have delicious sandwiches, as well as interesting daily iced tea selections. You can either get counter service at the street level, or go down to the basement to be waited on. Even though the dining room is small and cramped, I suggest the latter. We had a really great lunch here one afternoon and will be going back next time we're in town.
11. The Living Room
The Living Room, Boston, Massachusetts
We loved this little nightspot! We hung out in the lounge and played trivia with a ton of locals. It was an awesome time! Drinks are good, as are the appetizers, but not very cheap. Regardless, we had sooooooo much fun!
