The national capital has many world class museums to visit. They each have something to offer based on their theme with information they provide to the visitors and locals alike.

1. Canadian Museum of Civilization

Architectually very interesting building. Outdoors of the museum located directly opposite to parliement building across the river- GREAT PICTURES opportunities. Permanent exhibits include the GRAND HALL (natives from BC)-Each of the Hall's six houses presents an Aboriginal community living in coastal British Columbia, and features exhibits rich in artifacts and imagery, FIRST PEOPLES HALL (first nations) A dynamic blend of artifacts, works of art, archival documents and audiovisual presentations in the First Peoples Hall celebrates the diversity and contributions of Canada's First Peoples from their earliest origins to the present day CANADA HALL.
Hosts also the POSTAL and CHILDREN'S museums and the IMAX theatre. Some outdoors activities as well. Special exhibitions changes, see listing or web site.

| Housed in a magnificient "castle like" heritage building , the Museum of Nature offers permanent exhibits about nature. Fossils include dinosaurs bones, earth related activities, mammals, birds and discover zone. Some interactive stuff here fun the the kids of all ages! |

6. Canada Aviation Museum

| The Museum's collection focuses on the development of the flying machine, in both peace and war, from the pioneer period to the present time, with a particular but not exclusive reference to Canadian achievements. Therefore, the collection not only reflects the transformation of Canada's aeronautical technology, but also fosters an understanding of this heritage within the broader world context. |

New building was unveiled in 2006. Permanent exhibits inform us about wars on Canadian soil from 1885 and before.The wars of First Peoples, the French, and the British shaped Canada and Canadians.
Other themes are: The South African and First World Wars, 1885-1931 Canada's contributions in these overseas wars led to a growing autonomy and international recognition, but at great cost.
The Second World War, 1931-1945 Canada's fight against dictatorships overseas transformed the country and its place in the world.
The Cold War, Peacekeeping, and Recent Conflicts, 1945 to the present. Canada became a respected international player through its commitments to Western defence and peacekeeping.
The Royal Canadian Legion Hall of Honour explores Canada's long history of honouring individuals, and how Canadians have remembered and commemorated their military past.
The Military Technology Collection
A diverse collection of vehicles, artillery and other large artefacts tell the personal stories of war, from the 17th century to the present.
An Architecture of Hope
Rising up to the highest point in the Museum with a tightly framed view of the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill, Regeneration Hall is a physical representation of hope for a better future. |
