Dordrecht in one day

This is a tour through Dordrecht by boat. It's cheap (6 euros), it's great to do, and it lasts an hour. Wonderful!

The tour starts and ends at the Wijnbrug, right behind a (very good) fish restaurant called "De Stroper" (you can find this restaurant in De Voorstraat).

This trip is not suited for wheelchairs.
During the trip a tape with information about what's to be seen is played, but it is in Dutch. I have no idea if they have that text in English too. But you can do without it, because there's more than enough to see!

This museum is the house of a wealthy Dordrecht banker who left his house and art collections to the Old Dordrecht Society. It gives you a great insight in how (upper class) people lived in the 17th, 18th and 19th century. The museum has been restorated a couple of years ago, returning it to the state it was when Van Gijn lived here.

Really worth your while.

This is the place where three rivers come together. It's a fantastic sight, especially when you're sitting on a terrace, sipping a glass of something, and the weather is great. Just look a how all the boats slowly pass by.

Funny fact: Sometimes a boat docks near Groothoofd and a car (yes, a car!) is lifted from the boat to the solid ground so the owners can do their shopping. Every once in a while they are in too great a hurry and it goes wrong - and the car takes a dive in the water.

For only a few euros you can take the fast ferry from Dordrecht to Rotterdam, or from Rotterdam to Dordrecht. It's fun to do, it's definitely way better than taking the car or train (although slower), and the view when entering Rotterdam are nothing more than breathtaking, especially when the weather is great.

The fast ferry can be found at a few hundred meters from Groothoofd (you will see them go by)
