  • 1. Tony's Tropical Tours
Tony's Tropical Tours, Port Douglas, Queensland

This was it, the highlight, couldn't get any better than this. I was a little hesitant in believing everything that I had read in Trip Advisor, but believe it, it was GREAT.
Tony is a great guide, everything we did, from Mossman Gorge, our first stop and back to Port Douglas was just awesome. He is just mindblowing with information about the area, the environment, the rainforest, the wildlife, all of it. We did this tour with 4 others, we had a full car and you could see his enthusiam and humour, you could see that everyone just loved this tour as much as we did. Lunch was fab and he seemed to pull it out of nowhere, everyone had their own plate already dished out, which was good, so no one missed out on the best bits that were on offer. One of the ladies had a high allergy to nuts and wheat and he made sure she was well looked after with a special lunch. We missed the ice cream place at Daintree because we were just lapping up the swim at the private property, the water was clear as and really refreshing. Tony gave us a choice knowing the ice cream place closed at 5pm, but didn't rush us at all, we voted to stay on, it was absolutely the BEST day. 2 thumbs up for this one. Don't miss it.

  • 2. Quicksilver Connections Ltd. Reef Cruises
    Quicksilver Cruises, Port Douglas, Queensland

We knew that we may end up with around 300 or so people and were warned, but I'm not a good swimmer and didn't want to get out there and totally loose it and not see what the fuss is all about. This is what we came to see after all. Quicksilver was fantastic, couldn't fault it, small and personal it ain't, but great for someone like me. The staff were great, even after having to clean up after some people who were seasick, they just stayed calm and seemed helpful. I loved this trip and managed to get in the water after much persuasion. We had the calmest day, the reef was an absolute palet of colours and the fish were everywhere. Lunch again on this one was great. Thumbs up for this one.

  • 3. Court House Hotel

The band playing were great, loads of fun and the locals really made everyone feel welcome. We got there not long after all the boats were in and it seems to be the place where all the boat crew hang out.Don't know if it was the glorious day, the Sunday markets but the atmosphere in this place was really buzzing, very tropical, fun, and very holiday. We ended up dining here several times and every meal was great and even better than some of the expenisve restaurants we tried. The cocktails upstair in the Sun lounge were excellent with aview of the mountains and the sea.

  • 4. The Rainforest Habitat
Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas, Port Douglas, Queensland

Breakfast With The Birds - great breakfast but not too many birds, but it didn't matter because the nature park more than made up for it. To be so close to kangaroos, small and large, was such an experience and to see a mum kangaroo with a small baby in it's pouch was oh. so cute, the digital just worked overtime today. Handfeeding them was a real treat, the koalas were also a bonus, it's a great park without the hoards of people that you find in a big zoo and you do really feel like you are very close and personal

  • 5. Iron Bar
    Iron Bar, Port Douglas, Queensland

Toad races were great fun and a real laugh and a nice way to start the evening off if you want a late dinner, which is what we did. I would recommend this as a family thing to do. A few kids there or there is a late one which is an adult version I believe, but we didn't stay for that one, we left and went on to have dinner.

  • 6. Rainforest Skyrail to Kuranda
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Smithfield, Cairns Region

This is a very touristy kind of day, so be prepared. Lots of Japanese, they love it in Kuranda or maybe they are just made to go there. Lots of souvenir places selling everything from Tees to stuffed cane toads and boomerangs. We did this tour only because we didn't want to miss any part of the area, but it's overrated. The markets in Port Douglas were smaller, better and felt like what markets should be like. The best part of the tour was Skyrail. This was excellent and the view from the gondolas was amazing. We had great weather the whole time and could see as far out to sea as one can. Skyrail yes/ Kuranda - be prepared - touristy

  • 7. Four Mile Beach
Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas, Queensland

Spent some time on this beach. Hired some bicycles and rode the entire length of this beach. It is 4 miles long, my legs felt every bit of it. Scott just loved it, we rode to the end of it as far as the Sea Temple resort and tried to sneak in for a look, then went to find the Beach Shack, which was closed, then rode back stopping along the ways under the shade of the trees for a rest. If you're going to do this ride, take plenty of water, it was a hot day. We also sneaked in to have a look at the Sheraton. We had lunch at the little cafe near the beach which was fab. I can recommend their mango smoothies. The beach wasn't as busy as we expected and if you want you can hire umbrellas, and sun lounges as such from a guy there, but it's not cheap. Great beach day.
