Bryson City

Mar 23, 2007  Checking out daughter and son-in-law's new hometown

Great place to be adventurous, have a reunion or just relax! Quaint little town -- with that "Evening Shade" type feel.

  • 1. Jimmy Mac's Restaurant, Bryson City, NC

Located on Main St, Bryson City, NC. Great food, friendly, family atmosphere. Very diverse menu with specialties being two-columns of different types of burgers. Loved the chicken fettuccini alfredo, which is homemade by the younger Jimmy McNorrill. Run by two generations of the McNorrill family. Loads of regulars eating there, so obviously a local favorite. Everyone seems to know everyone else and are really eager to share ideas of where to go and what to do.

  • 2. Polar Express

Delightful train ride from Bryson City to Dillsboro, NC

  • 3. Ace Hardware, Bryson City, NC

There are two sides to the Ace Hardware. One is the typical little "we have a little of everything" type hardware store. But the second side, which is more intriguing, has loads of nostalgic hardware, old-fashioned toys and items from "a simpler time."
