List of things fun to do in and around Murphys
Great little community Theater. If you want something the whole family can enjoy, they usually have something. Their summer melodramas are great! Especially for the Kids. They love to boo the villian, and yay the hero....good times.
VERY affordable as well. Tickets range from $8 to $15 depending on the show. Cheapest of all the theaters in the area. Don't let the prices fool you though...low prices don't mean low quality in this case.
They do Shakespear! It's all out side under the Stars at Stevenot Winery. TONS of fun. You'll love it!
A Cavern definately worth seeing. 10 stops in 7 rooms. Some spectacular formations including the rarest formation in the world aragonite floss ferri. However, it's 16 stories all on stairs (no one told mother nature about handicapped access hehe). I've seen small children do it though, but if you can't do stairs, then this isn't the place for you.
Really cool just like Mercer, however it is only one room. What really makes this cavern worthwhile is that they offer repelling and adventure tours. Be careful though, if you are afraid of heights this might not be a good choice. You go down on a metal spiral staircase built in I think 1919....not exactly sure of the date...it's still really cool!
Great little hotels and motels. Clean, good service. Great places to stay. My grandfather always stays at Murphys Inn when he comes to visit.
A little park down the street from Main. If you want a place to have a picnic and swim in a stream this is the place to go (weather permitting). They have a playground for the kids and a beautiful gazebo. During the summer time there is the "Music in the Park" events and many bands come to practice there as well so many times during the summer you can catch some free live music.
Giant Redwoods and nature galore! 'Nuff said. =D
Great golfing, great resturaunt, woked there many years ago...but still visit every once in a while. The people who work there are great and there are tons of amenities.
Good wine. Beautiful grounds. They have a small museum that holds a GIANT gold nugget. They also do weddings, have tasting rooms, of course...and if you go in the spring, you see daffodils in bloom for most of the road out there. It's quite beautiful
Again more great wine. They host Murphys Creek's Theater under the stars.
Definately stop by main street. Lots of great shops, dining, and wine tasting. Weekends also feature walking tours hosted by the museum, and Buggy Bill can also be seen one weekends driving people around in his horse drawn buggy and extolling history and points of interest to his passengers.
There is TONS more to do and I can't list them all at the moment I will add more as I think of them.
If you are on your honeymoon or just looking for a romantic place to stay, This is it. I spent my wedding night here and was VERY happy. Chef Bob Anderson runs the resturaunt V's so your dinner is guarenteed to be excellent
