1. DelGrosso's Amusement Park
| Located in nearby Tipton, this park has been owned by the makers of DelGrosso's spaghetti sauce (yum - be sure to pick some up at the grocery store) since 1946. It's old-fashioned and small, but a great place in which to spend a few hours or a beautiful summer evening. There's a water park across the street that makes a great sunny afternoon hang-out and the prices are unbelievable - $11-$14 for an all-day pass that includes both water park and rides (plus that sauce you pick up always has a discount coupon on it in the summer). |

| Although I haven't actually made it to this park, it looks beautiful. It features a lake with paddle boats and a big pool that has a pirate ship for a centerpiece. There's also a minor league baseball stadium there. |

3. Shopping, shopping, shopping! (Logan Valley Mall)
| You'll find plenty to interest you if the weather doesn't cooperate, and all within a 5-10 minute drive. Logan Valley Mall has a fun playspace for the younger kids and plenty of great stores, and fans of discount designer wear will enjoy perusing Value City and Gabriels. |

4. Like to play with dogs and cats?
| The local Humane Society is always very welcoming - they'll let you feed the dogs treats and even take them for walks in the yard. |

5. Vietnam Memorial wall
| With its large population of Vietnam veterans, it's only fitting that this traveling replica of the Washington DC monument reside in Altoona. The wall is located in front of the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center and can be visited any time of the day or night. |

6. Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum and Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark
| Railroad buffs and lovers of American history will both rejoice over the history found in these Attractions. This town figured big in railroad history… |
