We had a great time at the Riu Guanacaste. The reviews I read were pretty much dead on down to the bad pillows and no conditioner in the rooms. But those minor things didn't take away from the trip....

Would highly recommend upgrading to the Riu Palace.

Good hotel to stay in price wise but be warned there is no decent food available after 9:30 PM. Kitchen closes at 9:30PM and you are left with nachos, popcorn, hotdogs, hamburger or cold sandwiches....
