Grand Bahia Principe Coba Questions & Answers

Hollidaysburg,Pa

Myself and three other ppl plan on traveling to your resort on November 5th thru the 12th. I have been keeping up with your reviews being that we are frequent resort visitors. I read that as of November 1st that you will not be able to access the beach for the Coba area. I booked my trip more than a month ago. Had I of know that I would have book another resort. I recently had back surgery and enjoy the beach but unable to walk far. So I have a few questions. First... how much is it to change to the Akumal resort and can it be done on line or thru my expedia whom I booked thru? Second ... is there a special rate for those that was not informed of this ahead of time before booking? Third.... the men traveling think this is important, Is there Captain Morgan Rum?

Dear future Guest,

Thank you for contacting us through Trip Advisor.

As the hotel Akumal turns to Luxury starting from the 1st of November, the guests from Coba and Tulum will not have an excess to its facilities.

To get more information and about the tariffs, please, contact your tour operator.

Concerning your question about the rum, we would like to inform you that there is the brand you have mentioned at the resort. While asking for a drink, please, specify the necessary brand.

Kind regards,

Iryna Shapoval

The resort has a bus/train that will take you anywhere on the resort even the beaches. You do not have to wait long for them as they are everywhere. The beaches do not have any kind of fence or border area closing them off from each other which is really nice so you can walk the beach area any time. They have all kinds of liquor to drink but I'm not sure about Capt. Morgan Rum (they probably have it). There really is not an only adult area and when we were there we didn't have a whole bunch of children around the swim up bar area. There is an area specifically for the children which has a very nice swimming area for them. I'm sure you will enjoy yourself at this resort. If you have any questions or issues call GBP directly and I'm sure they will help you. Have a fun filled trip!

Thank Paul-YUL This was a response from the property manager that was posted on another persons Q&A that has spiked concerned.

As the hotel Akumal turns to Luxury starting from the 1st of November, the guests from Coba and Tulum will not have an excess to its facilities. The beaches of the complex will be restructured and our guests will get the services according to the assigned area.

Kind regards

The Coba beach is between the Akumal beach and the Tulum beach so if Coba is closed for repairs which I suspect is due to erosion, it should not be a problem as the beaches on either side are only about 100 yards away. Especially in November when there should be far fewer guests. We spent most of our time at the Akumal beach even though we were Coba guests, there isn't even any borders between them. Coba has bigger rooms since designed for families, however the downside is it is a 10-15 minute walk from the beach. However the shuttles to the beach are never more than a 5 minute wait. If you don't need more spacious rooms I would say call GBP directly and switch to the Akumal, they are very accomadating. Have a great trip
