You cannot bathe in the original hot springs anymore. They have cooled down. However, if you head up to the gondola, there is a hot spring available there. It is not a tourist trap. It is the history of the National Parks system here in Banff. It is the first National Park in Canada. There used to be a swimming pool and hot springs there. It's a great history lesson.

There are restrooms, but no restaurants. The highlight of the tour will be going into the Cave a special place where bubbling thermal waters connect people to the essence of Banff National Park. Don’t miss exploring the marsh land trails and boardwalks favoured by local bird watchers and wildflower enthusiasts.

It is interesting if you're already there, go, if not don't make the special trip. Lots of other things to see or stare at the mountains for an hour. Lol

I would check out the Government of Canada website; all information is there... It is a very inexpensive experience that shows the evolution of culture in the Canadian Rockies. No restaurant, but wheelchair accessible and washrooms available, recently renovated to provide a fun interactive experience for all ages. Well worth the trip up!
