  "I had heard about this place sometime back from a few of my colleagues..and when we wanted a place to visit en route from trichy to pondy, this was it!we started from trichy at 9 and arrived at pichavaram at 12.30..it is 178 km as per the map..after a quick lunch - which was OK(fried fish not so goo..."d), we opted for the 1 hour motor boat ride...it was very sunny and looking at the people getting baked in the row boat, i feel motor boat is a better option..they take us into the mangrove forests at various points and bring us back in an hour..there is a 4hr row boat option too which includes a visit to the beach but opt for it only in good weather. the whole visit including the telescope tower lasted for 3 hours..there is nothing else to do around there...though you may accomodate chidambaram temple or parangipettai estuary which are nearby..
