"Ambabai temple is one of the Sade teen Shaktipeeth of Maharashtra and there are millions of devotees of the Goddess in Maharashtra and elsewhere. It is a holy place.
I have visited the temple and every time I feel sad to see the things.
The temple is beautifully built in black stone. Why the ston..."e is painted or covered with oil paint?. It makes it look so ugly and horrible. They could think of polishing the stone and spread it something like varnish or polish to make it look beautiful instead of doing stupid things like applying oil paint.
They have fitted iron grills horribly painted with oil paint around the main hall. I understand the utility of it but cannot understand why it cannot be made in the design that will look rich, sophisticated and go with the original beauty of the temple building. It is an absolute eyesore. It reduces beauty of the temple.
When I visited the temple it was raining. We were required to remove our footwear outside on the stand with a small payment...

"Panhala Fort is just half an hour drive away from Kolhapur. So a visit to the city would not be complete if a visit to Panhala Fort is not made.
I went there on 16 June, 13. Weather was fantastic. It was raining and I regretted for not wearing sweater or muffler even. It was surrounded by fog. The ..."atmosphere was thrilling and spirited crowd of tourists and Kolhapurians added zing to it.
We hired a guide. He was a good guy. He explained to us the importance of each and every place there. It is a 8 km. round on the fort. We had our car to move around.
Drinking piping hot tea laced with ginger and eating freshly roasted corn in that atmosphere was just a great pleasure.
We were there for more than two hours and enjoyed every minute of it. Our other commitments compelled us to leave against our wishes.
There are several hotels on Panhala fort and we decided to stay at the hotel on Panhala fort area.
