Cape Palascìa, commonly known as Capo d'Otranto, is Italy's most easterly point. It is situated in the territory of the Apulian city of Otranto, in the Province of Lecce at 40° 7' northing and 18° 31' easting.
The lighthouse there, recently renovated, is one of five Mediterranean lighthouses protected by the European Commission. It is often visited by tourists, especially at New Year, since it stands at the point where the dawn of the new year may first be seen in Italy.

"Otranto, especially due to the presence of the ancient village, was for me the most beautiful seaside city visited on my trip to Apulia. The village has a cozy atmosphere and is perfect for a visit in the evening, because it really comes alive with its many shops full of particular and characteristi..."c souvenirs. Walking to the top of the ancient village you can admire a splendid view of the sea.

"Baia dei Turchi is one of the most beautiful beaches ever seen in all my travels. It can be reached from the road after a short walk in a pine forest very well maintained, following a path well signposted: it is impossible to get lost or do not find it. To reach the beaches in many places you have t..."o find a way to come down from the hills that we find in the bottom of the pine forest. If you have with you small children or elderly or disabled people, then maybe it's better to opt for a beach more easily accessible as Alimini Lakes. You can find both free areas and areas equipped with sun loungers and parasols for a fee. The water is clean and the sand too, and it's great to be in front of a sea so blue, and a beautiful verdant pine forest behind. Unforgettable.

"In this cathedral, the skulls and bones of 800 martyrs, killed by the Turks in 1482, are conserved and venerated. But the place goes back to less tragic events. On the floor, a great mosaic of the 12th century, recalling sacred and secular traditions. Beautiful!"
