The initial steps down from the church can be uneven with some loose gravel but not difficult unless rainy or very windy. Carry on across the short causeway and there ar..."e a few straightforward tracks among spiky brush but take care that they don't go too near the vertical cliff faces. To get to the top of the rock is more tricky. You need to go round the rock and find the way up (it isn't signposted). The last section isn't a difficult climb, but it does need 4 point contact and some upper body strength. Not too bad in your sixties if used to climbs but there were plenty of 'youngsters' below unwilling to try it. Once on top the views are great but the actual top is smaller than you might expect and much is taken up by a large cistern. If you go up, make sure you're happy about the descent.   "took the path in front of the hotel and walk 1 hr t the rock ;the views were incredible.did not dare to walk on the rock but enjoyed the view from above "

  "really nice sightseeing that worth the walk.just wear your sports shoes if you want to climb on the top of the rock(as we didn't). but for us olders you can just visit the small church at the edge of caldera."
