entry to this beautiful house is on a separate ticket compared to the rest (6 sites combo ticket)

generally speaking, the entire Koprivshtitsa village and house museums, which is separated by a river, can be visited in under 3 hours. therefore, it is not necessary to overnight here.

I did it as a half day trip between Sofia and Plovdiv. recommend caution when driving some of the country roads due to potholes.

Koprivshtitsa is part of Bulgarian history, and Dimcho Debelyanov is one of the famous Bulgarian poets, so it's worth to visit.

Small bridge which you are likely to pass when exploring the area. Pretty and scenic views. As I said the area is so small and you are likely to pass this so worth a quick stop for a photograph.

This is one of the most breathtaking and beautiful houses I have ever seen. Its iconic front facade is extraordinary and fascinating and the fact that this house is build in 1854 is mind blowing. The garden in front is well maintained and creates calm and relaxing atmosphere. I loved the interior of the building because of its specific wall paintings. An intriguing history surrounds the family that owned the house. Also a good feature is that its part of a museum tour which contains several other iconic houses of other famous Bulgarian revolutionaries. It is a must see and I strong recommend visiting it!!!

Lyuben was born here in 1834 and the exhibits reflect his lifelong work on behalf of Bulgaria and its people.

Comprising summer and winter quarters constructed some decades apart, the buildings are attractive with fine facades of different hues.

One of the most engaging displays is a large printing press that Karavelov bought in Serbia in 1871. Accompanying it are the Cyrillic typesetting letters and numerous documents it produced.

Grand portraits are displayed throughout, including a photograph of members of his family mourning his death from TB in 1903.

Historical. You are likely to pass it whilst exploring. Worth a stop. Very ancient and small. You cannot photograph inside. There was a baptism going on when we were there which was nice to watch.

Definitely worth the walk up from the center of town to see this magnificent monument to Georgi Benkovski. Very steep and no hand rails. The view of the city/valley is amazing too.

I personally find this street to be the most important for Koprivshtitsa and maybe the most beautiful one in Bulgaria. The house of Hadji Nencho Palaveev is fully rebuilt and is now a gallery with different exhibitions.
The noble trader was born in 1859 in Koprivshtitsa and had spoken at least four languages, he has spent most of his life working as a trader in Egypt. There he has made a fortune, which by that time made him the richest Bulgarian. Later in his life, he returned to Koprivshtitsa where he made numerous constructions, including the towns pipe system, the monuments of Georgi Benkovski, Nayden Gerov, Lyuben Karavelov and more, the bell tower of St. Nikola church, he paid for the afforestation around town, he gave scholarships for young students, and many more. The organisation of the "April Uprising of 1876" was secretly financed by him and he paid for most of the guns, horses and uniforms. In his will he left a huge amount of gold for Koprivshtitsa, some sources say that it was around 450 kilograms.
He was the owner of Napoleon Bonaparte’s ring offered as a gift to his first wife Josephine, which today is shown in the Museum situated in the building of the first class school in town.

This impressive monument in the town centre is a fitting memorial to the courageous who died in the April 1876 uprising for independence from Ottoman rule.

Built in 1926 it contains the bones of the revolutionaries who died in April 1876.

A chapel place of worship is also within.

Extending for about 1.5 km by the river this verdant space makes for a pleasant relaxing stroll. We joined it at the main square and enjoyed the trail southwards.

The river was quite high and flowed with impressive force. Bridges arched and straight are plentiful making it easy to cross from one side to the other.

Cafes and restaurants are never too far away and we adjourned to one for sustenance.
