"It's right off the road. No hiking. It's just there. You park, pass the toilets, walk down a couple of stairs and voila. It's beautiful.
There is poison ivy, bits its pretty contained.
There might've been rattlesnakes but my kids didn't stay long enough to find out.
My husband dec..."lared it 'too fast for the kids'.

"The guided tour was very informative and just long enough. Then you have time to view and read as many displays as you are interested in. I think it would be a great stop with kids, and they have special programs for kids to actually experience digging."
"This was a fascinating stop! The $8 fee was absolutely worth it. The Mammoth Site was discovered when the location was being graded for a residential development. This was originally a watering hole for the mammoths but became a sink hole . One by one the animals went down for a drink and then ..."could not climb out again, so they died in place, one on top of another. They have excavated 56 remains so far with many many more to be revealed. Our guide was a very bright and well informed 16-year old boy..
