Visitors can tour the most highly decorated aircraft carrier of World War II, now a floating museum since its retirement after 48 years of service, a longer tour than any other ship in the U.S. Navy. The 16-story "Blue Ghost" displays military artifacts and more than a dozen aircraft, and visitors can explore the vessel, watch a video, and try a flight simulation.

"I wouldn't say it's nice enough to warrant a 4+ hour drive is Galveston is in your backyard. Water is still very brown here. It's pretty, though -- huge dunes, secluded, but with a nice visitor's center and toilets/showers. We'd definitely return if the drive weren't so long."
"The sharks and starfish weren't there when we visited. Good ticket prices. Take your time and watch the animal shows! Won't take you very long to walk thru the entire thing. "
"We took my 8-year old girl and my friend's 9-year old boy here, and they loved it! Great exhibits outside on the lower level; don't miss those! Only thing it lacked from my vantage point was a tropical display... but this is the Texas aquarium, not the Caribbean aquarium. So I can't fault them th..."ere. Food in the food court was very good. My friend said they had the best corn dog she's ever had (and she's not one to really eat corn dogs with any regularity, so...,).
