The Chambers House was built in 1906. In 1914, C. Homer and Edith Fuller Chambers purchased the house and moved in with their two daughters, Ruth who was 12 years old and Florence who was 2 years old. Ruth and Florence never married and lived in the house after Mr. & Mrs. Chambers passed away. After Florence's death in May of 2004, the Beaumont Heritage Society got the first glimpse of the interior of the house. It was a treasure trove of furniture, personal items and artifacts that had survived nearly 100 years. Although it has been referred to as a restoration, it really is a conservation project since nothing had been changed in nearly 100 years. Entering the house is truly like stepping back in time.Hours are Tuesday - Friday, 10am-3pm and Saturday, 10am-2pm. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors, and $1 for students.

The John Jay French Museum demonstrates the life of a prosperous Texas pioneer family from 1845 to 1865. The historic pioneer settlement, built by John Jay French, tanner and merchant, is replete with antique furnishings, clothing and pioneer household utensils. Outbuildings on the grounds include a blacksmith shop, tannery, privy, and smokehouse. The John Jay French house is the oldest house in Beaumont that has been restored to it's original state. Built in 1845, the home is one of the first two-story homes, one of the first made with milled lumber, and one of the first painted homes in the area. Hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10am to 3pm and Saturday, 10am to 2pm. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors, and $1 for students.

"What more could you ask for? With no admission price, you can't go wrong with the Fire Museum. With tons of old fire apparatus and a wealth of information, it is a place that the kids will be sure to love. If nothing else, you can take a few snap shops in front of the notorious 24 foot fire hydra..."nt outside!

The admission is very inexpensive and they hold quite a few different events throughout the year that bring you back into another tim..."e of Texas history. Great little stop!

"I've had the pleasure of spending quite a bit of time at the McFaddin-Ward house and yet, some how, continue to love it. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the house itself is, well, wonderful. If you do visit, make sure to check out the rose garden (if in season) and the Carriage House. Gr..."eat piece of history!
