1 reviewWhidbey Island Vineyards and Winery offer a quaint tasting room, and a delicious, delicate white wine known as Madeleine Angevine, whose grapes are grown on Whidbey Island itself.
Houdini's Billiards in Freeland has just opened. A new pool room for recreational players, families and serious cueists, Houdini's is open, warm and inviting. Sporting nine "Golden West" tables of various sizes, Houdini's family atmosphere is congenial. Houdini's serves sandwiches, snacks, beverages and bottled beer. Tables are rented by the hour, regardless of how many players and private lessons are available. Located just off SR 525, Houdini's is behind Windermere RE and across from Island Athletic Club.
One of the largest farms in the country growing sweet lavender.
Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens, a not-for-profit garden open to the public, encompasses ten acres of display and educational gardens enveloped by forty-three acres of woodland preserve with nature trails. Friends of Meerkerk memberships, plant sales, admission donations and contributions combine to care for the Gardens.
Lavender Wind Farm, with a view of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan De Fuca, is on the wild west side of beautiful Whidbey Island. The farm is within the Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve, and maintains the farming culture of this special area. We have perfect growing conditions for lavender, only about 18 inches of rain a year due to the Olympic Rain Shadow, lots of wind, and plenty of sun.
