Striking? Majestic? Visit the monumental National Historic Landmark & discover why photos don't do it justice, nor words describe it, and why the awe-struck Thomas Jefferson bought it. Follow the creekside trail to Lace Falls. Gather around Interpreters in the Monacan Indian Village. Make it a brief visit, or a day, or overnight on-site; packages available. Just 15 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway; off I-81, exits 175 & 180.

"if you happen to be visiting, or just driving through Natural Bridge, Va...keep an eye out for Foamhenge..its a hokey free side of the road attraction that's actually really fun! It is was it sounds like-a foam replica of Stonehenge. My fiancé and I had fun taking silly pictures, it was free, and i..."t only took 5-10 minutes total to walk to, view and play around, then leave. Well worth it, and you can't beat the price! After paying waay too much for the Natural Bridge and caverns tour, this freebie put a smile back on our faces!

"What a great way to spend Mother's Day! We enjoyed driving through the park and feeding the animals. The llamas had it all figured out and covered the entrance and exits. Watch out for the camels, which really rip the food bucket out of your hands like taking candy from a baby. We also were surp..."rised by an elk who managed to take a 2nd food bucket handily. Save some food for the middle and end as there are lots of animals throughout the park - over 1,000. The petting zoo area was less of a petting zoo and more of a mini-zoo. Nice displays that provided opportunities to feed budgies, goats, and giraffes (who hung out in the back of the pen when we visited). We also ate lunch here which was decently priced and the kids combo came in a plastic safari hat. Nice bathrooms and gift shop too.

"Been here before, but the walk is beautiful. I had forgotten about the 139 steps down from the ticket purchase area to the bridge area, but it was scenic and our toddler needed to get out and run around. We also saw the Monacan Indian village area. The costumed staff provided information to us ab..."out life in the village. Our toddler got a kick out of it, but it's probably better suited for kids aged 5 or 6 - 12. They can see how rope was made, shelters were built, food was ground and cooked, and skins were prepared. We ran out of time to see the wax museum, which was fine. You can easily spend an hour here, but I wouldn't allow for much more than that. We lucked out catching the shuttle back up to the parking lot - we were fine, but our toddler was worn out from running the trail along the river.
