The free Little Hollywood Movie Museum , a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non profit, exhibits a collection of actual movie sets as the centerpiece of its exploration of how the sleepy little town of Kanab became the back lot for movies like The Outlaw Josey Wales, Planet Of The Apes & Stagecoach and a haunt for Hollywood stars like Frank Sinatra, John Wayne, Charleton Heston, Clint Eastwood and more recently, Kiefer Sutherland and Willem Dafoe. Both on the big screen and on TV in such classics as The Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke and Lassie, Southern Utah defines the way we see the American West. The Museum is set behind Trading Post of the West, a gift shop focused on Made in the USA merchandise including fair trade Native American Arts and Jewelry, Stetson Hats and Abilene boots. From fine gifts to fun souvenirs Trading Post of the West offers a great selection at fair prices. There are big clean restrooms, snacks, drinks and a picnic area. Kid and pet friendly. Whether you have 15 minutes or over an hour, it's a fun place to stop.

"I hiked Wire Pass twice on a recent 6 nights trip to Utah, including 4 nights staying nearby in Kanab. The hike starts out following a long wide wash (seasonal watercourse) and after about 1.3 miles slots up, getting narrower and narrower in three segments until you come to a large opening where Wir..."e Pass meets Buckskin Gulch. These slot canyons are beautiful and enchanting, and absolutely worth a visit.
From Kanab it's about 37 miles on highway 89 to House Rock Road. That's a decent graded dirt road that was perfectly fine for my 2WD vehicle (but it's impassable even for 4WD if the road is wet from a heavy rain or snow, so check the weather carefully). From 89, it's just about 8.5 very scenic miles down House Rock Road to the well-marked trailhead parking area.
Once you're done you can return to 89 or take House Rock Road another 18 miles or so -- all very scenic, including to an area where California condors have been reintroduced, and you can see them flying from their nests...

"OK , this sounds like a complaint but nothing could be further from the truth. The morning trip to the White Wave and slot canyon exceeded everything we hoped for. Forget Antelope Canyon, go with Dreamland and get a personal, knowledgeable guide to show and inform. The double? As well as Don B we al..."so had Garry along. Twice the expertise and entertainment!
The trouble? Didn't go for longer
Looking forward to the White Pocket next year
