"At first it seemed ordinary, but it gradually unfolds into vista after vista. . .Quite a variety of things to see, rocky creeks, Castle-like rock hills, ranches, sweeping valleys, wildflowers. In mid-May, the bluebonnets were done, but judging from the number of seeded out bluebonnet plants we s..."aw, they must be amazing in March and April. We saw lots of Indian blanket and yellow coreopsis on our drive. . still very lovely!
It's a very twisty turny road .. so you'll have to go slowly if someone in the car is very prone to carsickness. .. I am slightly prone, but I was driving, heheh. Hubby seemed ok.
Would make a marvelous drive in spring, I'm sure!

"Our family of five loved this park. We drove up from the town of Fredericksburg on an early April morning arriving well before 9am. There was a line up to get in that was mostly due to the process of paying and parking. I could see how the lot will fill up easily and quickly.
We stopped at th..."e ranger station to use the restrooms but later realized there was another set near to the start of the hike. We walked directly up the side of the rock to reach the top. It was incredibly steep and we paused to catch our breath and take pictures several times. The top was even better than we had hoped. Just beautiful.
The kids especially loved climbing around in the "cave" area just past the peak. This didn't seem to be a real cave but some covered areas due to a large pile of very large rocks. There were nooks and crannys to explore and plenty of tight squeezes. For them, a highlight of the day.
Coming down was much quicker! We paused for a picnic lunch at the bottom. And...
