Join one of Wales' top mine explorers on an exploration of a virtually untouched abandoned Welsh Slate Mine. First worked in 1836 and abandoned by the miners in the early 1970s, more than 130 years of mining history is captured inside waiting to be discovered. It is as if the mine has just closed. Machinery, tools, even the candles and a packet of cigarettes are still in place as the miners left them. Corris Mine Explorers gives you the opportunity to visit these abandoned slate mine workings, to step into the tough working lives of the miners and of past generations. 3 trips to choose from: 1 hour Taster, 2 hour Mine Explorer Trip and a Half Day Mine Expedition.

Grab a hard hat and set sail, with a mysterious Dark Age boatman, on this underground storytelling adventure. Set deep in the mountains of Southern Snowdonia, sail underground, through a waterfall and back across a thousand years into the darkest of the Dark Ages. Guided by your boatman, explore vast underground caverns and winding tunnels whilst tales of King Arthur and other ancient Welsh legends are told. Complete with dramatic scenes, light and sound this is a real adventure for all ages in all weathers - the underground caverns are cool when hot and dry when wet.

"Got a ticket for the center when we booked at the eco retreats just down the road. Well worth a visit!
A lovely afternoon was spent here exploring the site. Very interesting! Gift shop & cafe were great too! Offering organic products etc. "
"This is a great place to visit on a rainy day. The craft village is an excellent place to wander around and while away a few hours. Say hi to Steve the Soringer Spaniel who is the boss at the candle making centre. The labyrinth experience needs to be booked. You need sturdy shoes and warm clothes on..." plus a waterproof. You start off by making your way down into the old slate mine and board a narrow boat. It seats 20 people and there is a guide. It's well lit through the tunnel and nothing scary will happen. You pass through a waterfall which miraculously stops as the boat passes through then the boat stops and you are led through tunnels by the guide and see various scenarios to do with King Arthur. I would not recommend this trip to people with very young children. We had two screaming toddlers on our trip which ruined it for the rest of us as we couldn't hear the commentary. Perhaps the organisers should set a lower age limit of five. It is dark in places and fire breathing dragons co...

"I can not speak highly enough of the craft village attached to this attraction! we bought some beautiful items and our daughter had great fun painting her own mug. The food available at the cafe was also very nice and there is a small playground to keep little ones amused while you wait for the next..." tour for the attraction itself.
The attraction itself was great and very enjoyable. It was fantastic to have the oportunity to have a wonder around underground particularly in the middle of the afternoon on a very very warm day. The boat ride was great and the staff were fantastic.
However the one downside is that the experience is on a timer so you have to whizz through the tunnels and dont really get to look at them. This was also a problem as our 2 year old daughter couldnt walk as fast as was needed and as you cant take pushchairs, it was quite a trek carrying a lump of a toddler.
All in we enjoyed the experience but we could have done with just a bit more time.
