"Went here last week with my husband while on vacation in Cherry Grove (north of Myrtle Beach). Took us about 40 min to get there. Went mostly for photography opportunities, and there were many! Had we bothered to do any advance planning, we could've learned about several programs offered in the edu..."cational center (where we did end up having a very nice conversation about sea turtle nesting with the lone staffer there). The park has a website that has a lot of info on it. I suggest using it before you go. If interested in photography/viewing animals, try to avoid low tide. There is lots of marshy area where you can see all kinds of birds, ducks, alligators, etc, but at low tide, the water recedes and all you see are small crabs. Also, it was very hot the day we went, so it was much more enjoyable in the morning while it was still rather cool. We took advantage of the shaded hiking trails during the hottest part of the day.
