"Maumee Bay State Park campground is very beautiful. The campsites are private and spread out generously. The bathroom facilities could use to be upgraded only because there aren't enough showers for busy weekends. The water pressure and heat is amazing though! When we went there were also a lot of ticks. Several members of our party found ticks on themselves and dogs. There were also several other campers with the same complaints. Lastly, only one vehicle is allowed per site. This may get tricky with a larger group sharing a site ('visitor' vehicle parking is at the campground's entrance) BUT what is great about this is that you are not camping in a parking lot! "We enjoyed 3 nights staying in the Yurt at Maumee Bay State Park camp ground. It worked out good for myself, my husband and our 5 year old. The Yurt has two bunk beds (twins over fulls). One of the bunks is a futon style and so the futon mattress is not very comfortable since it lacks padding. O..."ther than the 1 uncomfortable bed and a mini fridge that didn't work in the warmer weather the Yurt was a good deal for the money.
We enjoyed biking everyday and fished a little a couple days. We biked after unpacking the first day and checked out the beach area. My son fished for his first time and caught his first fish without any help.
The Nature Center is great. The boardwalk through the wetlands was beautiful. We joked about being excited to see deer in the park considering we get herds of them that come through our backyard down in the Columbus area. But it was an enjoyable walk and the number of birds in the park was awesome.
