What travelers are saying
- Robert ThomasSydney, Australia21 contributionsA wonderful place to visit with lots of great rainforest wildlife and history. We loved it here and it was a great part of our Queensland adventure!Written March 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jajavalBLampang, Thailand2,761 contributionsIt’s claimed to be one of the oldest rainforest in the world, another is in Madagasscar. The unique flora and fauna here are amazing to be learned and explored. Many point of attractions, such as Daintree river cruise to encounter freshwater, estuarine crocs, platypus seeing, canopy walk, mangrove trail, seaside , swimming in capetribulation and many picturesque lookouts, one is Alexandra lookout. If you have limited time, 1 day waterfall circuit for adventurer or 1day daintree river tour is ok.Written November 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - drlcs1373 contributionsLovely boardwalk through mangrove swamps. Will take less than an hour.
I believe parking is limited. And is right off the road so you need to be on the lookout prior to approaching the area.Written July 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Best to go on a tour at night or early morning before all the chattering tourists descend.
Farnorthescapes run an evening/dark walk through this boardwalk, and it’s amazing what you see.
Annoying things are chattering tourists, or tourists on their phones chattering away, whilst you are trying to be quiet and spot the wildlife.
On the night walk I managed to spot a python, bandicoot, rat, spiders, frogs and lots of other things.Written November 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very easy access.Written May 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lisa MBrisbane Region, Australia6 contributionsThis was our favourite beach to visit in North Queensland. We swam even though stingers were said to be a problem. We could not resistWritten October 19, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Had a great morning.

You are looking at a minimum 1 1/2 hour hike each way along a stoney creek, it is not an easy walk and my girlfriend turned back after 1/2 an hour (which meant I did an extra hour as I accompanied her back). But you will be rewarded with the waterfall and a swim in the rock pool below.
I didn't see another human or any signs of humanity during this hike and you are totally isolated in the heart of the worlds oldest rainforest.
The hike starts behind the Heritage Lodge however they no longer acknowledge its existence (theres even a sign in the driveway saying it doesn't start there) as they do not want tourist invading their lovely resort. Park on the street outside the lodge and walk in or even better stay a couple days at the lodge.
Make sure it has not been raining heavily before your hike, take 2 litres of water, let someone know you are going on the hike and start before lunch (you do not want to be stuck there in the dark).
You will love this hike.Written October 30, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is also a butterfly enclosure which showed all stages of the insects life cycle. Don't miss the beautiful picnic area and freshwater swimming hole/tropical stream on the property.Written June 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michelle REngadine, Australia332 contributionsDrove up here but not with a 4WD so we could not really cross the creek and go further. Emmagen Creek was absolutely beautiful but you cannot swim in it for crocodiles. Nice easy drive up here even on the unsealed road which isn't too bad. If I ever came up here again would definitely get a 4WD so we could go over the creek and explore furtherWritten August 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RobMitch7 contributionsThe Mount Sorrow Ridge track was really lovely but hard walk to a small platform with reasonably clear view south and north, but, apparently there were better views a bit further along the track by clambering over some boulders and along a narrow ledge! Hard work, worth itWritten July 14, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- fi bAboyne, UK182 contributionsEnjoyable dip n swim to cool off however difficult to find standing/changing room so get dressed in your car if busy as limited rock platform area. Pay owner a dollar to walk through their garden where house visible and walk through cafe to get there but great way to cool off on a hot day!Written January 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bobjanhBrisbane, Australia2,263 contributionsWhen the tide is out or low at Emmagen Beach, you are afforded the best possible reef meets rainforest experience: well worth the effort to seek this beach out for that.
There is walking track access to the northern end of the beach from the Bloomfield track road: about 400-500m before you get to Emmagen Creek on the Bloomfield Track access road, a not well identified track leads to the Emmagen creek river mouth at the north end of the beach. It is not so easy to find: however, there is a small parking area on the west of the road suitable for two or three cars immediately opposite where the track begins.
The track is reasonably well-defined once you find it.Written February 24, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
