  "This ancient church in Cartmel, a small village in Cumbria, dates (in parts) from the 1100's. It reeks history -- even though it is a living church. The tombstones are well preserved, especially inside the church, and are clearly readable back to the early 1600s. There's some good stained glass wind..."ows, which have been "rebuilt" over the years. Priory staff suggested that some of the original windows had now ended up in other churches many miles away ! The grounds were beautifully maintained -- covered in daffodils -- and with a small creek babbling peaceably behind the church.
