"I have driven past this place on the Outer Banks and did not bother to stop. It is not impressive on the outside. However, recently I stopped, and was most happy I did. The collection in this museum, put together over seven decades by a gentleman (educator)who still lives nearby, is obviously a li..."fetime labor of love. The number and quality of the artifacts is astounding. Arrowheads, kachinas, war implements - you name it. New York and Southwestern influences are most prominent, but a wide range is represented. Some impressive original artwork and crafts, some of it quite valuable in my estimation. Admission is only about 4-5 dollars. It is not pristine and super organized like, for example, the Smithsonian, but that is part of its charm. It is a non-profit organization, and there is no attempt to gouge the customer. In addition, they have created a small nature trail behind the museum (no charge) which is worth the ten minutes it takes to walk it.

"My fiancee and I did the trail ride with Equine Adventures while staying in Nags Head. Frisco is about a 60-90 minute drive from the village of Nags Head, but it is quite beautiful, particularly if you've never been down that way. The owner did a thorough job of asking our weight/height/riding abili..."ty in order to match us with the right horses. When we arrived, they were very friendly and gave a little demo on how to ride. The entire experience took about 3 hours. You do 45 minutes or so through the woods, then another 45 or so on the beach, and then head back the way you came.
My 3 favorite things - 1) the horses are obviously well cared for and have just the right mix of being safe but lively, still fun to ride. 2) they allowed the folks with a bit more experience to trot and canter which is great because - if you do ride - you get to have some fun, and if you don't ride - you are not going to hurt yourself or the horse. 3) my fiancee LOVED it and he was terrified to begin with. ...

"After a lot of "nose-to-butt" trail rides when I'm not sure if the horse fell asleep before I did, the trail ride with Equine Adventures was a wonderful surprise!
Our guide, Lily, was friendly, helpful, lively, and put everyone's safety first. Horses were well-matched to riders' experience (we had..." a person who had never been on a horse to someone who took advanced lessons regularly) and the horses were well taken care of. The Australian endurance saddles were comfortable.
The 45-min ride through the Buxton maritime woods to the beach was peaceful and interesting with some small tidal streams to cross. Time on the beach, about 45 mins, was especially nice. More experienced riders were allowed to canter a bit while others enjoyed walking along the shoreline. A photographer took pictures at the beginning and end of the ride and on the beach...a CD with all the pictures was available for purchase after the ride was over.
The ride from mounting up to dismounting was almost 3 hour...
