Formerly the grounds of a hotel, this park offers stunning vistas and uncrowded trails.
Historic Huguenot Street is where this funky and fabulous town began. In 1678, a small band of French-speaking Huguenots set out to create a place of their own. They named that community New Paltz. Today, six-acre this National Historic Landmark District preserves their charming stone houses, all of which are open to the public. Central to the site is the DuBois Fort Visitor Center, built in 1705. Today it houses exhibition galleries, a Museum Shop and offers a shady spot to sit and enjoy. Grounds open and special programs offered year-round. Walk-in guided tours offered May through October every day except Wednesday. Also offered on weekends in November and December.
