The History Center takes you through Tompkins County’s fascinating history for free! Adults and kids will discover historical quilts, old maps, life in a 1890 local shop, postcards and much more, in over 10,000 sq. ft of exhibition space located in downtown Ithaca.
"I stopped here while on a trip through New York State. We had a great time tasting their wines and they even have a few liquors, including grappa, limoncello, and orangecello. The tasting room overlooks the winery and it has a covered deck on the back, so we came here on a rainy day and you were s..."till able to sit out there to sip your wine while you took in the grapes. We did not take a tour, they only offer them on a limited basis and I don't think there is much to see due to the size. The staff was incredibly friendly and we had some good conversations with them. They list a fee for the tasting but if you buy a few bottles they waive those fees (I'm sure it's in place to discourage tourists looking for freebies).

"These falls are awesome! And as luck would have it, we visited on a beautiful sunny day right after a day of rain. This made for a great show. The area for parking is on the east side of Lake Street about 100-200' from the access to the falls. The entrance to this parking lot is not marked and i..."s up a steep hill. Looks like a dirt driveway.

"Please, please, please (s'il vous plais!) visit this most amazing little shop! The ports (red and white, yes, white port) are intense, aromatic and swoon-worthy and they truly impart the terroir of the Finger Lakes. All grapes and spirits for Frederic's ports are locally grown and sourced. Frederic ..."also comes from a long line of French wine makers, and he is more than happy to talk of the interesting photos and artifacts in the small "museum" he has along the wall. Definitely a gem worth visiting!
