It is an acclaimed gleaming jewel in the Hudson River Valley's crown. Vice President & New York Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller referred to Boscobel as "one of the most beautiful homes ever built in America." In 2014, as we celebrate Boscobel's 53rd year as a house museum, we are more than ever focused on Boscobel's mission "to enrich the lives of its visitors with memorable experiences of the history, culture and environment of the Hudson River Valley". Attractions include guided mansion tours, the Rose and Herb Gardens, the Woodland Trail of Discovery, annual signature events, such as the Big Band Concert & Sunset Picnic, as well as The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival performances each summer. Plus, let Pete Seeger, Bob Boyle, John Cronin, John Adams, Bobby Kennedy Jr. And Al Butzel - the giants of the mid-20th century environmental movement - tell you what they did to save the Hudson River on Boscobel's free, self-guided walking audio tour. It also tells how Boscobel and our country's independence were saved by the brave and quick actions of citizens of the Hudson River Valley. Situated on 68 acres on the east bank of the Hudson River opposite the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Boscobel is open every day except Tuesdays, Thanksgiving & Christmas Day. (The museum & grounds are closed to the public January through March.) « less
