Voted top 25 beaches by Trip Advisor in 2013, Sunset Beach is located at the very tip of South Jersey and the end of Sunset Boulevard. Sunset Beach offers an unobstructed view of spectacular sunsets over the waters of the Delaware Bay. Atmospheric conditions caused by the inter-action of sea breezes across the bay waters create spectacular colors as the sun sinks below the horizon. For over 50 years just off the coast of Sunset Beach lies the concrete ship "Atlantus". Thousands of visitors come annually to view the cracked, weather beaten hull and watch the sunset over the remains of the ship. Each night from Memorial Day to September 30th, about an hour before the most amazing sunsets, stop by Sunset Beach for our Evening Flag Ceremony. Every flag flown at Sunset Beach since 1971 has been a casket flag honoring a United States Veteran. A particular veteran’s casket flag is flown every day. During the ceremony, before the playing of Kate Smith’s God Bless America and the National Anthem, a brief biography about that veteran is read. As the flag is lowered before a setting sun, taps plays and concludes the evening ceremony. Don’t miss out on this moving and emotional event during your time in Cape May. After a day of fun on the beach, searching for Cape May Diamonds, watching the dolphins jump by the Concrete shipwreck, and participating in the evening flag ceremony; take some time to experience a scenic round of miniature golf. Browse a selection of unique gifts in one of our three gift shops and see why Sunset Beach is rated one of the top shopping destinations on the east coast. Be sure to grab a bite to eat from the Sunset Beach Grille. « less
