  "I've been to Split Rock in the summer, but it was nice to visit on a snowy day in April. We were a couple of weeks too early to go inside the lighthouse, but that also saved us quite a bit of money. We only paid the $5 per car entrance fee and were able to see everything in the visitors center and..." walk around the grounds. The exhibit in the visitor's center is informative and you can learn all you need to know just reading the information in there. There are lots of little videos to watch and interactive flaps to lift to learn more about building the lighthouse, famous shipwrecks and the shipping industry. My daughter really liked the Lego model of the lighthouse and looking at the old pictures. It's beautiful and well maintained, even in the winter. NOTE: The $5 fee gets you in to any Minnesota State Park on the same day, so that's something to take advantage of if you have the time. " More >
